Black Drum Fishing Charters out of Hampton, Virginia. Anglers love fishing for Black Drum because they are very large bottom feeding fish. They come into our areas of the Chesapeake Bay for about a 6 weeks out of the year. Captain John will slowly drove the boat around looking for several Black Drum swimming together. When Black Drum are spotted, the captain will quickly stop the boat and all anglers will drop their bait into the water below. When Black Drum are hooked, anglers will experience a mighty battle with the fish to get it to the boat. Black Drum range from 40 lbs all the way up to an astonishing 110 lbs!

Flounder, Spot and Croaker are smaller bottom fish, but are a lot of fun to catch! The Captain will anchor the boat up or drift through areas where these fish are known to feed throughout the Chesapeake Bay. Anglers will use a light tackle rods and reels with a small weight to drop a rig known as a bottom rig. Squid used as bait. Once the bait is on the bottom the angler will be able to feel these smaller fish hit the line. There is a bit of a fight to get the fish to the surface and on a good day you will catch anywhere from 20 to 100 of these types of Chesapeake Bay bottom fish. This type of fishing charter is excellent for kids.
